The ICS8442 Module is based on ICS (now IDT) part ICS8442 (8442). The ICS8442 chip is a high performance clock synthesiser capable of generating a LVDS clock between 31.25MHz to 700MHz. In our Raggedstone1 implementation this is programmed serially and we normally fit a 25MHz crystal. It is also possible to feed a clock(10-25MHz) to this module and to multiply that clock. The VHDL module below allows the input selection to be controlled by a push button on Raggedstone1.
